T&E being the underdogs were not expected to win this match even though they were the only team to beat last years champions, Owen Williams. No-one could of predicted what was about to happen.
Owen Williams won the toss and elected to bat first. The first over went by as normal until the second over. Colin bowled his first ball to take a wicket. His second ball came straight back at him and he promptly caught it. Owen Williams went on to score a huge 168 for 5 with another catch from Colin who caught the bare footed big hitter, Sean. He seemed to be hitting 4's for fun up until then. Steve bowled Simon and there was also another fine catch out in the field by either Alex or Mike (sorry I can't remember which).
It was then the daunting task of T&E to try and hit 169. T&E are not a team of big hitters with them barely reaching 100 most games. The strength is in the fielding. After 10 overs they found themselves on 123 for 4. Alex managed to hit 46 (and lose the ball several times), Colin was out on the last ball of the game with 34, Kal again had a good batting game with 29 no out. Mike and Jane got 4 and 3 respectively. The players who did not get a chance to bat were Steve, Ray and Daniel.
It was a brilliant game played in good manner by both teams. It also lasted nearly 2 hours! On any other day against any other team 123 would of been enough to win.
Next week sees T&E take on The Dead Horse Floggers, this should be a good game with T&E looking for their 3rd win.
